Rodent & pest control built around Everett houses

Everett is a port city on a river delta, and that shapes its rodent problems. Norway rats thrive around the waterfront, along the Snohomish River and in older sewer systems, and they're strong burrowers and chewers. They come in low: through foundation gaps, around pipes, under porches and through broken crawl space vents. In the north end, mature street trees and closely spaced older houses also give roof rats easy routes across rooftops. Older homes there have more openings than newer ones, simply from a century of settling, remodeling and patched repairs. Mice fit through nearly all of them, so a single house can have all three at once.

We inspect from the foundation to the roof and photograph every sign: droppings, rub marks, burrows, chewed vents and openings. We trap the rodents inside and tell you exactly what we use and where. Then we seal the house, starting with the low openings Norway rats use most and working up to roof returns and vents. Materials are metal mesh, flashing, hardware cloth and sealants rodents can't chew. Cleanup and insulation replacement follow. For apartment buildings and rentals, we work with owners and property managers to seal buildings as a whole, not one unit at a time, and we document each building so the work can be tracked.

Local conditions

What Everett throws at attics and crawl spaces

The houses

Everett has some of the oldest housing in the region. Northwest Everett and Riverside are full of 1890s to 1920s Victorians, foursquares and Craftsman bungalows, many with partial basements, rubble or brick foundations, and finished upper half-stories with knee walls. Smaller mill-worker houses fill much of Delta, Bayside and Lowell. Post-war ramblers spread across View Ridge-Madison and Pinehurst. South Everett and Silver Lake added 1970s to 1990s split-levels and two-story homes, plus many apartments and condos, mostly on crawl spaces.

The weather

Everett sits on Port Gardner Bay, with the Snohomish River delta along its east side. Marine air keeps it humid and mild, and the city lies in the Puget Sound convergence zone, where north and south winds meet and can produce bursts of heavy rain or snow. Bluff-top homes take wind off the water, and low ground near the river stays damp.

The wildlife

Everett's waterfront, port, river sloughs and wooded bluffs give rodents plenty of habitat. Norway rats are common near the water and along the river, often moving through old sewer lines and burrowing under older foundations. Roof rats travel the mature trees of the north end. Mice, squirrels and raccoons round out the list.

FAQ

Rodent & pest control in Everett: FAQ

Still unsure? Call (800) 674-4933 and talk it through with us.

Do you handle rodent control for rental properties in Everett?

Yes. We work with landlords, property managers and HOAs on single rentals and apartment buildings. Sealing a building as a whole works better than treating one unit at a time, since rodents move between units. We provide photos and a clear scope so owners can plan and document the work.

How do I tell Norway rat signs from roof rat signs?

Norway rats are heavier and usually show up low: burrows near the foundation, droppings in the crawl space or garage, gnawed holes at ground level. Roof rats are climbers and leave signs high: droppings in the attic, rub marks along eaves and noise in the ceiling. Some Everett homes have both, and we identify yours at the inspection.
